What are Baru seeds? They are a new superfood due to their high nutritional value, fewer calories and fat than other seeds and nuts, and taste amazing. Baru seeds taste very similar to a peanut and therefore are often referred to as “Baru nuts.” However, these nutrient-dense legumes are in fact a seed. This makes them an excellent nut-free option. Baru seeds are also high in protein and fibre. They contain iron, potassium, vitamin C, and a host of antioxidants.
How can you incorporate them into your diet? They are a tasty snack on their own, can be added to salads, used in a trail mix, and even made into a spread like other nut butters. You can also chop them and add to a granola mix or use them in one of my energy ball recipes. This would allow for your kids to enjoy at school for a nut-free delicious snack.
Please share and let me know how you enjoy them.
