I wish someone explained the concept of self care to myself when I became a mother or even earlier. I only learned this concept after I became very ill and had to admit myself to an in-patient program to find myself. I was lost and had no idea. LIke most new mothers, I always put my 3 young children ahead of my needs while at the same time trying to navigate a new diagnosis of a genetic pain condition. If I knew the concept of self care, it could have saved myself and family a lot of grief. However, I am beyond thankful for how I am thriving and want to be able to give back to the community any tips to help others live vibrantly.
Self- Care is simply taking time for yourself and doing things that make you happy and healthy in order to be able to care and develop positive relationships with others. It might sometimes show up as guilt to yourself and others. You need to know that guilt serves no purpose and know that if you do not give yourself permission to take care of yourself then you cannot give your best self to others.
