Spaghetti Bolognese
This recipe will be your new way to make homemade meat spaghetti. It is beyond flavorable.
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1-2 onions, diced
- 2-3 carrots, diced
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1/4 cup canned tomato paste
- 1 can unsalted canned diced tomatoes (796ml)
- 1 liter beef and/or unsalted chicken broth (I love the Pacific Foods brand- order on Amazon)
- 2 tsp Italian seasoning
- 450 g spaghetti
- Salt and red pepper flakes to taste
- Optional: sprinkle with dried and/or fresh basil, parmesan cheese
In a large skillet, wok or dutch oven, heat oil over medium-high heat. Cook onions, carrots and salt in oil, 5-8 minutes or until softened. Add beef; cook 5-8 minutes, stirring frequently, until browned and no longer pink.
Stir in tomato paste and tomatoes. Stir in broth, pepper flakes and Italian seasoning; heat to simmering. Break pasta in half, and tuck pasta into simmering liquid, covering completely. Reduce heat to medium-low; cook 15 minutes or until pasta is soft.
Top with Parmesan cheese and basil, if using. Enjoy!!!
